Off-campus Access to Journal Citation Reports
You may see the following error messages when attempting to use JCR from off-campus if your browser's privacy settings cause it to automatically reject third-party session cookies:
"You do not have a session. You will need to establish a new session if you wish to continue."
"Sorry, you need a subscription to an ISI Web of Knowledge product in order to follow this link."
In Internet Explorer, you can enable all cookies from JCR without changing privacy settings by doing this:
Select Tools from the top menu bar
Select the Privacy tab
Click the Sites button
In the Address of Web site box, type: isiknowledge.com
Click the Allow button
Click OK to close the Sites dialog box
Click OK to close the Internet Options box
In Mozilla FireFox, you will not see these errors unless you have changed the default Privacy/Cookie settings to accept cookies "for the originating web site only." You can allow an exception for JCR by doing this:
Select Tools from the top menu bar
Select Options
Next to Privacy, click the plus sign (+)
Click the Exceptions button
In the Address of Web site box, type: isiknowledge.com
Click the Allow button
Click OK to close the Exceptions menu
Click OK to close the Options menu
The Journal Citations Reports home page is unlike other Web of Science products in that it has a dropdown box for search type. When you click the Go button, a JavaScript function checks the type of search you selected. If the third-party session cookie was not previously accepted, the script fails and you're stuck.
If this solution does not work for you, please let us know.
