Overview of Archival Records
The holdings of the University Archives are comprised of the following types of records. See Access to Archival Records for information about locating specific resources in the Archives.
- Administrative Records
Collective bodies of administrative records produced by UNR academic and administrative departments and offices in the course of their operation. Grouped by the creating office, they provide the most detailed documentation of the university's activities.
Examples: Office of the President Records, Vice President for University Advancement Records
Office of Student Services Records, College of Agriculture Records - Subject Files
Records and miscellaneous material compiled from various sources concerning campus buildings, traditions, events, individuals, and other UNR related topics.
Examples: Morrill Hall, Homecoming, Commencement - Publications
University and student produced publications.
Examples: University Catalog, UNR Databook, Sagebrush, The Artemisia - Personal or Organizational Records
Records and papers of UNR associated individuals and organizations, includes correspondence, diaries, scrapbooks, memorabilia and other personal papers, organizational records, and general historical materials.
Examples: David Walker Hayes Papers, Sigma Phi Sigma Records, Edme Peterson Scrapbook - Faculty Papers
Papers of UNR faculty documenting teaching, research, and university administrative activities.
Examples: Charlton G. Laird Papers, Patrick Squires Papers, Warren L. D'Azevedo Papers - Photographs
Images of of faculty and students, classroom scenes, sporting and other University events, and campus buildings and grounds, provide a visual history of UNR from the 1880s to the present.

Architectutural drawings of UNR campus buildings, campus maps and plans, and miscellaneous drawings. - Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE) Records
Comprised of UNR, University of Nevada, Las Vegas, Desert Research Institute, and community colleges, the system records include agenda, minutes and accompanying material, publications, and other administrative records of the Board of Regents--the governing body of NSHE--and administrative officers.
